Fire Rainbow – blown glass, steel cable, 16’x12’x12’, 2010

Fire Rainbow was created as a site specific installation for the Mary L. Stephens Branch Library in Davis, California. The piece is composed of 35 blown glass elements suspended under a large skylight on stainless steel cable.  The colors of the glass elements correspond to the bands of a rainbow. The concept for this piece is a rare meteorological event that occurs when the water droplets in a cumulous cloud are struck by sunlight creating a rainbow in the shape of the cloud.
